party04There is plenty going on for all ages; some things for serious thought, some just for fun, and many in between.

There is overlap between these groupings, but broadly speaking our regular activities are arranged here according to age-groups and interests - starting with things for any age and going on from there!

chtalk The focus for what we do is when we meet at 10.30am on Sunday mornings to worship God, to pray together, and to learn from the Bible. This time together is designed for everyone, with old familiar hymns and more modern songs too. The children go out to their own groups and there is a creche for the smallest ones. Afterwards we enjoy a coffee in the church hall. We are relaxed about children being here and parents have said we are 'a child-friendly church'.

A number of Bible Study groups meet around the parish. Most meet fortnightly in the evenings of Tuesdays and Wednesdays; there is also a fortnightly meeting on a Tuesday morning.

In addition, there is a weekly group which meets on a Friday morning with a creche for pre-school children; and one on Friday afternoons designed to allow its members to do the school run. Enquirers' groups also meet when convenient for the members!

For further information, do contact Christopher, the Vicar (How to find us page).

One of the hardest things for anyone looking after a young child at home is the adjustment to the demands on their time and social life. All of these activities run only during term times, but many find them a life-line!

Mothers & Others is a Bible Study group with a creche which runs on Friday mornings. People meet in the Guide Hut and chat from 9.15 onwards, settling their children in to the large creche room, then taking time out together in a smaller room from 10-11am to share requests for prayer and study the Bible together.

School Runners is run on the same principles but without a creche on a Friday afternoon, 1.30-3.00 in the Vicarage, for those who need to collect kids from school.

jacksan4 Parents & Toddlers runs on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30-3.30 in the Church Hall. It is designed for children from 0-4 1/2, with a variety of toys, and a "Circle Time" during which songs are sung, a Bible story is told, and a related craft activity is provided. There is a termly "Pram service" in the church, and of course we mark the seasons! The booklets "Jesus in Mark" which re-tells some of the gospel stories as we have explored them in Parents & toddlers are available at http://stores.lulu.com/marghobbs.

New Kids on the Block is a group for those bringing children up to 18 months old only. It meets on a Thursday morning in the Guide Hut, from 10.15 - 11.45am, and is an opportunity to make friends and to hear a brief "Talking shop" in which a guest speaker chats about an issue relevant to the mums, carers and grannies there!

If you have an enquiry about St Thomas's Nursery School, which is the private business run by a member of the church in our church halls, please contact Stella Roberts on 8886 5369.

Golden Link meets on Mondays 1.30 - 3.30 in the Guide Hut and enjoys socialising and simple games together.

Luncheon Club meets on Fridays in the Baptist Church Hall (off Merrivale) but is jointly run by members of Oakwood Methodist Church, Oakwood Baptist Church, and St Thomas's. An ideal opportunity for the elderly to meet, make friends, and enjoy a delicious 3-course meal together - and even to go on occasional outings too!

Ladies' Thursday Club meets every Thursday except the 3rd in the month, when the Mothers' Union meet - 2.15 - 4.00 on the Guide Hut. A varied and interesting secular programme.
