Welcome to St Thomas Oakwood! Whether you’re new to North London, or have lived here for many years, we’d love to welcome you to one of our Sunday services. We hope the information here will help answer your questions.

When and where does the church meet?

Our main meeting every Sunday is at 10.30am, with a monthly ‘Bouncy Church’ at 3.30pm and a smaller evening service at 6.00pm. The church is on the corner of Prince George Avenue and Sheringham Avenue - you can see it as you come down the hill from Oakwood tube station.

For information about services coming up, please see our Sunday services page.

What can I expect if I come to church?

Each of our main services runs for about an hour and is informal in style. At the heart of each service is a reading and sermon from the Bible, and there is also a mixture of hymns and more modern songs, prayers, news, baptisms and the sharing of the Lord's Supper.

Be sure to look out for our welcome team as you come in: as well as welcoming you, they'll be able to explain how things work and where to go.

We won’t ask you to say or pray anything you don’t believe, or force you to do anything you’re not comfortable doing. Some people have the idea that you need to be ‘sorted out’ before you can come to church. That's not true at all - the truth is that Jesus came for people with mess in their lives. We want you to feel at home and enjoy the service - do join us for tea and coffee in the hall afterwards to get to know some people from the church family.

What happens to the kids at church?

During our 10.30am service we have groups for children aged 3-14. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we sing together. The service leader will make it clear where and when children need to go to their groups. We also provide a supervised crèche for babies and toddlers, and there is a ‘crying room’ at the back of church with a sound relay of the service.

The children’s groups last for about 40 minutes and include Bible teaching, crafts, games, music and prayer in friendly small groups.

Our monthly ‘Bouncy Church’ is designed for primary school and pre-school children and their families - children will enjoy the whole thing!

Is there a dress code at church?

No! Just wear whatever you normally wear – others will be wearing anything from shirt and jacket to shorts and t-shirt.

I have more questions; how can I get in touch?
