Sunday & midweek services

The best way to get to know us at St Thomas Oakwood is to come to one of our services. We hope that all our services will be helpful to you, whether you’re already following Jesus or just wanting to find out more about him.

At the heart of each service is a reading and sermon from the Bible, and there is also a mixture of hymns and more modern songs, prayers, news, baptisms and the sharing of the Lord's Supper. We won’t ask you to say or pray anything you don’t believe, or force you to do anything you’re not comfortable doing.

The church is on the corner of Prince George Avenue and Sheringham Avenue - you can see it as you come down the hill from Oakwood tube station.

10.30am Sunday Service

This time together is designed for everyone, with a mixture of familiar hymns and more modern songs. Afterwards we enjoy tea and coffee in the church.

Children up to age 14 stay with us for the family-friendly start of the service, during which there is usually a children’s talk, then leave for Bible teaching, crafts, games, music and prayer in friendly small groups:

  • Creche (for the under 3’s) - runs throughout the service; there is also a ‘crying room’ at the back of church with a sound relay of the service.
  • Stepping Stones (age 3 up to 5 years)
  • Scramblers (for children in Y1-3)
  • Explorers (for children in Y4 -6)
  • Pathfinders (for children in Y7-Y9)

New children are welcome at any time, even if just visiting. If you have any queries please contact us for more information.

Around school holidays we run All Together Services. The children stay in church the whole time; the talk is geared towards all ages and the service lasts about 50 minutes.

Once a month we share the Lord’s Supper together as part of the service.

1:30pm Wednesday Lunchtime Service

This is a shorter (20 minute) service in the middle of the week with one hymn, a short talk from the Bible, and a celebration of the Lord's Supper. The service is followed by our Community Cafe (open from 2-3:30pm every week).
